Senior Accountant

Your mission

We are building a scalable and reliable accounting team across Germany and the US. As Accountant, you take ownership of defined accounting areas and ensure our numbers are accurate, timely, and decision-ready. You will work closely with the Controller and contribute directly to improving and scaling our financial processes.

The Role

This is a hands-on role with clear ownership. You will take responsibility for specific accounting areas and help us continuously improve our processes and procedures. We are looking for someone who works independently, communicates clearly, and reliably drives topics to completion. You will collaborate closely with the broader accounting team, finance team, Controller, and CFO—especially during key phases like monthly close.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting Ownership: Own defined accounting areas (e.g. payables, payments, fixed assets, or specific flows) end-to-end

• Financial Statements: Prepare and support monthly and annual financial statements (HGB & GAAP)

• Consolidation & Reporting: Support consolidation and reporting

• Monthly Close: Ensure a clean, timely, and reliable monthly close

• Transaction Monitoring: Reconcile and monitor transactions across systems (e.g. Shopify, Stripe, PayPal)

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with tax advisors, auditors, and internal stakeholders

• Process Improvement: Improve and scale accounting processes and system setup (e.g. DATEV, ERP)

Your profile

• German Accounting: Strong knowledge of German accounting (HGB) with at least five years of experience as an accountant at an accounting firm or fast-growing company

• International Standards: Experience with US GAAP

• E-Commerce: Experience in e-commerce or high-volume transaction environments preferred

• Technical Skills: Comfortable working with payment providers (e.g. Stripe, PayPal), DATEV, and modern ERP setups; fluent with ERP systems and spreadsheets (Excel, G-Sheets)
