Engineering Manager - Data Platform (m/f/x)

Your mission

As Engineering Manager – Data Platform (m/f/x ) , you will play a pivotal role in leading and growing our data platform team. Your mission will be to:

• Spearhead the team in conceiving, implementing, testing, and launching features for data analysts, scientists and Databricks Power User, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.
• As a valuable member of our Data Leadership Team, which includes analytics and product engineering leads, you will collaborate seamlessly with the analytics, product engineering and devops team. Together, work towards driving and cultivating optimal solutions that align seamlessly with organizational goals.
• Lead the agile team with visionary guidance and inspiration, acting as The Leader to not only drive collaborative and efficient development but also to provide disciplinary leadership for the team. Foster a close relationship with stakeholders, shaping the team structure, overseeing individual development of engineers, and extending the team as needed.
• Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and agile best practices within the team, promoting an atmosphere of innovation and adaptability.
• Guarantee the stability, security, and high-performance operation of our data platform for batch, streaming and analytics-workloads.
• Proactively monitor and optimize our services and infrastructure, emphasizing scalability and cost efficiency for enhanced performance.
• Take ownership of developing solutions and communication with the development team by working closely with our talented data engineers to build new data products.
• Drive teamwork and shared expertise to achieve project milestones.

Your profile

We’re looking for a proactive, technically-strong leader with a passion for growing people and systems. The ideal candidate brings:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, showcasing strong analytical and technical foundations.
• A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role managing data and/or ML engineering teams, with a proven ability to coach and inspire.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a data or ML engineer, demonstrating deep technical expertise in building scalable solutions.
• A track record in building, scaling, and maintaining cloud-based data platforms, with a strong emphasis on performance optimization and cost efficiency.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Spark, and a passion for continuous learning and applying new tools and technologies.
• Outstanding communication skills and a team-first attitude, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders and foster collaboration.
• Solid experience in project and resource management, prioritization, and delivering complex initiatives in fast-moving environments.
• A resilient and adaptable mindset, ready to navigate and lead through change with clarity and confidence.
