About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and payroll management across European markets , particularly Germany . Hands-on experience with DATEV (German accounting software) is highly preferred. The successful candidate will handle international accounting, payroll processing, and ensure compliance with European financial regulations while supporting a distributed team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements in line with IFRS.

• Manage and process payrolls for Germany and other European markets.

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data.

• Maintain compliance with German, Swedish, and broader European payroll & tax regulations.

• Handle tax calculations and compliance for German payrolls.

• Review and verify invoices and salary statements, ensuring correct payments and accurate billing.

• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to reconcile financial data.

• Assist in audits and provide financial analysis as needed.

• In addition, the role includes:

• Independent work as the sole accountant/financial manager.

• Comprehensive financial accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and sales tax.

• Processing of payment transactions and dunning procedures.

• Creation of outgoing invoices and credit notes.

• Account reconciliation and preparation of monthly closings.

• Preparation and submission of sales tax returns.

• Liquidity planning to ensure smooth financial operations.

• Collaboration with controlling and other departments.

• Liaising with tax advisors and auditors.

• Participation in the design and implementation of innovation and digitization processes within finance.

Key Requirements

• Fluency in German and English (spoken & written).

• Proven hands-on experience with DATEV.

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and international accounting standards.

• Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in accounting/finance, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and sales tax.

• Demonstrated ability to manage payrolls across Germany, Sweden, and other European countries.

• Good understanding of German labor laws, payroll processes, and sales tax/VAT regulations.

• Experience in account reconciliation, monthly closings, liquidity planning, and preparation of tax returns.

• Proficiency with accounting tools, ERP systems, and strong Excel/financial analysis skills.

• Ability to work independently as sole accountant/financial manager, while also collaborating effectively with controlling, auditors, and tax advisors.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.

• Capacity to contribute to digitization and process improvements in finance.

• Ability to work independently and according to European (German/Swedish) working hours.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent professional qualification).
