DEINE AUFGABEN

The Senior Shopify Engineer is the first engineer dedicated entirely to Shopify at HTV — responsible for designing and expanding the Shopify ecosystem across multiple brands and organisations. You own Shopify as a domain: Functions, Extensions, Liquid, and Custom Apps. No context-switching between Shopify and a dozen other systems. Your entire focus is the platform you know best.

You work directly with the CPO on a daily basis, alongside platform heads and an existing strong backend engineering team. Shopify is your domain. You take what has been built on Nordleaf — PharmOps, multi-org architecture, checkout compliance — and make it work everywhere.

1. Shopify Architecture & Development

• Build server-side logic using Shopify Functions and develop custom apps on GCP (Cloud Run, PostgreSQL) to power platform operations .

• Manage multi-org pipelines using a single codebase to serve multiple Shopify Plus organizations with independent services and a shared database .

• Lead Shopify architecture (themes, Functions, Extensions, custom apps) across all HTV brands, including Nordleaf, Prio One, and SoLean .

2. Cross-Platform Rollout

• Design platform-agnostic features from day one to ensure repeatable, low-cost deployment across multiple brands .

• Scale Nordleaf innovations , such as PharmOps and UTM attribution, to other platforms like Prio One and SoLean .

• Collaborate with Platform Owners to adapt shared infrastructure to specific requirements without forking the codebase .

3. AI-Augmented Engineering

• Champion an AI-first culture by evaluating and adopting new tooling to accelerate the Shopify development lifecycle .

• Integrate AI tools like Claude and Cursor as core infrastructure to maintain high development velocity .
  

4. Quality & Standards

• Automate deployments by building CI/CD pipelines and documenting all architecture decisions and technical specifications .

• Own QA and code reviews to ensure high coding standards, mobile compatibility, and minimal production incidents .

Required:

• 5+ years hands-on Shopify development experience

• Deep expertise with Shopify Plus: multi-store management, organisation-level features, Shopify Plus APIs

• Expert-level Shopify Functions development (Rust or JavaScript/TypeScript runtimes)

• Expert-level Shopify Extensions development (checkout extensions, app extensions, theme app extensions)

• Advanced Liquid templating: complex logic, performance optimization, progressive enhancement patterns

• Custom app development: Shopify App Bridge, Admin API, Storefront API, Webhooks

• Strong experience with GCP or comparable cloud infrastructure (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, PostgreSQL)

• Git, CI/CD, and modern development workflows

• Comfortable with AI-augmented development — uses AI tools daily as part of engineering workflow

• Self-directed, high-ownership work style — you do not wait to be assigned tickets

• Good English (B2+)

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with headless commerce or Hydrogen/Remix

• React/Node.js experience for custom app frontends

• Experience with real-time systems (webhook pipelines, event-driven architecture)

• Familiarity with telemedicine, healthcare, or regulated industries

• Experience with multi-org Shopify Plus deployments

• German language skills
